Senegal!!!!

Last wednesday I was heading down the highway going 60 and finally after a month I got a 202 number on my cell. I know I was a danger to surrounding drivers because I slowed down to like 20 and started freaking out! I could not belive that now was my time to find out what was going on and where i might be going. I was told that a spot had opened up in my orgional nomination which was a french speaking country leaving the first week in March. Thanks to PC wiki I knew that she was invinting me to Senegal. I had been preparing myself for the past month for June not March now instead of a few months notice I was getting a few weeks! I got my invite on friday night and I found out that it is really going to be SENEGAL as a Preventive Health Educator!!!!!  I sent my acceptance email this morning so now I have 7 weeks untill my vacation and 8 weeks untill I leave for Africa. So the next few weeks are going to be very very busy!

here we go.......

I was going to wait until I received my invitation in the mail before I started my blog, but I decided to start writing before i got my invitation because things seem to be moving along. I sent in my medical packet on November 20th and received my clearance on December 6th. 2 days later I was contacted by Jill my placement assistant requesting an updated resume and I sent it in the same day. Then today the news came... bad news......I got an email from Jill saying that all health programs from January to March 2011 are full. My nomination was for Sub-Saharan Africa leaving in March but now it is looking like sometime between April and June. She also said my placement officer is going to review my file and try and find another program for me and she will contact me sometime in the next month. With Christmas less than 2 weeks away it is looking like January before I get my invite. I cant wait, I want my invite to hurry up and get here. When and where really dont matter, well ok I want Southern Africa, but more than anything I just want to find out when and where I might be for the next 27 mo. of my life.  So now the wait continues............
